Product Review: Marc Jacobs versus Yves Saint Laurent

(Left: Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat- Radiant Touch in 1 = Luminous Radiance 0.1oz,
Right: Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen in 0 = Bright Idea 0.08oz)
Can be purchased from Sephora

In this blog post, I'll be comparing the two concealers/brighteners. I use both to cover my dark circles and brighten them as well. Both perform relatively the same but the formula and the way they apply are different. Both pens have a button on the bottom to press to get the products out.

For the Marc Jacob's concealer pen, I really like the packaging of this pen because on the back, you get to see how much product is left. This way you'll know when you're running out and you'll see the color of the product too which is quite handy if you have it in different shades. The pen weighs heavier than the YSL one but has less products than the YSL by 0.02 ounces.

I really like how pen has a metal tip which helps cool the under eye area and slightly reduces any puffiness. The only problem I have with this pen is that it's hard to control how much product would come out. One click would always give me more than enough concealer to cover both my under eye areas. With the metal tip, it's easy to clean the pen. All I have to do is just wipe it down with a tissue or makeup remover wipe.

The YSL pen has a brush tip which is great for applying the under eye areas near your inner corner . Also, the pen won't over dispense the concealer like the Marc Jacobs' pen. I generally use one click per under eye area.  The only hassle I have is cleaning the brush tip, I would wash it when I wash my makeup brushes at the end of every week.

(Left: YSL Touche Eclat- Radiant Touch in 1 = Luminous Radiance 0.1oz,
Right: Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen in 0 = Bright Idea 0.08oz)

As you can see in the picture above, the YSL on the left is lighter than the Marc Jacobs on the left. This picture gives a better idea of how much products are dispensed from one click of the pen. They both have a watery to creamy feel to it.

The YSL didn't settle in any fine lines whereas the Marc Jacobs did a little. But both did their job in brightening up my under eye areas. I like to use my fingers or a dense synthetic doomed shaped brush like the C457 from Crown Brush to blend out the concealors.

Both give great coverage but if I were to repurchase either one, I would chose the YSL.

Thanks for reading my blog and I hope that it was helpful.

Product Review: Miss Adoro Cosmetics

Hi everyone :)

So I just bought some new products from Miss Adoro Cosmetics to try out and thought I'd do a review on it. Based on the packaging, I really like how they incorporated the color and the name of the color of the product to a side panel of the boxes the product came it. This was I'll know what color the product is without the hassle of having to open the box. Also, the matte black packing with gold labeling is very chic and the black part reminds me of the way MAC's packaging feels like.

All of the products are cruelty free and are quite pigmented.

Right: Lipliner in Rose Gold

1) Supreme Creamy Eyeliner Pencil in Velvet (Black) ($9)
I really like the fact that the eyeliner is a gel one. It really glides on easily without tugging on my skin like some pencil eyeliners. It's super pigmented, in the swatch photo, that was only one swipe!

Aside from being pigmented, it's long lasting. I have oily lids so the pencil eyeliner tends to separate or clump in the lines on my monolids. Even when I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion under it, many of my pencil eyeliners will still do that. But this gel liner didn't budge or separate (refer to the photo at the very bottom for after 10 hours of wearing the liner). For the swatch, I tried wiping it off with a tissue and my finger, it faded a little but it was still really dark black. I will definitely need to use an eye make-up remover with an oil base to it to get this eyeliner off.

I must say, aside from wearing the K Pallet 24 Hours Liquid Eyeliner, this gel liner is in my Holy Grail (HG) list. These are my two most long lasting liner that I can always rely on. Love love love <3

2) Supreme Creamy Lipliner in Rose Gold ($9)
Just like the Gel Eyeline, this Gel Lipliner is super creamy and glides on easily. Another one of my fave, I'm really liking their gel liners for both the eyeliners and lipliners. The Rose Gold color goes great with the Tuesday lipstick. This is a good color for the natural lip or as Jen from Fromheadtotoe would call it My Lips But Better color.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to test out the long lasting features of the lip products because I ended up wiping the products off when I ate my lunch at 1PM and forgot to reapply the products afterwards.

Top: Mineral Eye Shadow in First Class
Bottom: Mineral Blush in Pasion

Mineral Eye Shadow in First Class

3) Mineral Eye Shadow in First Class ($9)
This eye shadow has two shades, a taupey brown color and a soft champagne color. This product claims to be ultra smooth and blendable, and it really is. The eye shadow is super soft and there is a sheen for the champagne color whereas the taupe color doesn't have much of a sheen. The pigmentation is decent, it doesn't pop as much as my MAC eye shadows but I haven't gotten a chance to try it wet. The product can be worn dry or wet, but I don't usually wear my eye shadows wet.

I'm a natural makeup type of a girl, so this eye shadow duo is great for that. Also, the eye shadow is dome shaped so it's convenient when you're getting the products.

I like to apply the champagne color all over the lid first and them afterwards apply the taupe color on the outer half of my lid but at times when I'm in a rush, I'll just put the taupe all over the lid as well. The color was still on my lid after 10 hours, it didn't fad at all.

Mineral Blush in Pasion

4) Mineral Blush in Pasion ($9)
This blush reminds me of MAC's Mineral Blush in Dainty, they both have the coral peachy color and are both mineral blushes. It's super soft and very pigmented, I just need a little bit of the product to get that rosy cheek. Plus it leaves a slight sheen on the cheek for that healthy glow. Great for my natural everyday looks. It's very blendable and since the product is dome shaped, it's easy for the brush to grab the product.

It can be work wet as well since it's mineralized but I haven't tried it yet. This is a great alternative to the Dainty and is great for a everyday natural look. The domed blush kind of also remind of how Chanel's blushes look. I'll continue to test out the blush as it's almost there to my HG list.

Compact Powder in Ivory

5) Compact Powder in Ivory ($15)
It's a matte finish powder and is non-fragrance which is a plus for me. It's super soft, feels light and definitely buildable. Another plus about this is it's Paraben free :)

It kind of reminds me of MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I'm a Medium for the Skinfinish and the Ivory matches my skin tone pretty accurately.

Even though I don't use a sponge to apply the powder, I do wish that the compact has a separator on for the sponge it comes with. Like one of those compacts where the sponge would be stored in a compartment in the bottom of the compact. It does come with a plastic sheet that keeps the sponge from touching the compact.

Supreme Creamy Concealer Pencil in Beige

6) Supreme Creamy Concealer Pencil in Beige ($9)
The concealer pencil applies on creamy and dries to a powder finish. The beige color matches my skin tone pretty closely.  I used it under my eyes to hide some of my dark circles and did a pretty okay job of it. I used a dense domed brush to blend out the products. This hasn't settled into my fine lines which is nice since some of the other creamy concealers would just accentuate the fine lines that I have near the inner corner of my eyes. This is definitely buildable but I haven't pushed it yet to see if it'll get cakey after putting a lot of the product on and testing how it would be wearing it for a long time.

Left: Supreme Brilliant Lipgloss in Simple
Right: High Definition Lipstick in Tuesday

7) High Definition Lipstick in Tuesday ($12)
I love how the color of the lipstick is on top of the package so that when I store the lipstick in a holder of stacked in a container, I'll be able to identify the color with ease. The lipstick it self feels light, but the closure of the cap is tight, I like how it has that crisp click sound when I close the cap.

The color is really pigmented and I would consider this a MLBB color. Unfortunately this lipstick wasn't one of the lipsticks that moisturized my lips. I have really sensitive lips and they dry out and gets chapped quickly and easily. So even though I like the color, I wish it was moisturizing for my lips. Honestly speaking, the only products that I feel that won't cause my lips to chap or flake are the Fresh Sugar lip balm/chapstick. The lipstick does have this play-doh kind of smell to it.

8) Supreme Brilliant Lipgloss in Simple ($10) (not worn in the photo)
This color went well with the Tuesday lipstick. It's definitely glossy and gives my lip a shine. It does feel sticky but not overly stick where I would be bothered by it when I purse my lips. It's also quite pigmented but I wish that they will improve on the scent of the product.

Overall, the make-up products are well worth the price they're at for the ones I liked and I would definitely repurchase the gel liners, and try out the different lipline colors they have. The products I would say to get or must try from this review are the gel eyeliner, gel lipliner, the Pasion blush, and the creamy concealer pencil.

Sephora Friends and Family Sale Haul

I definitely took advantage to the Friends and Family sale this year and bought some products that I wanted to try out for some time now. This was also a chance for me to restock on some me my holy grail items.

First on the list is the Fresh Sugar Stars Mini Lip Collection:
This will make a great stocking stuffer since you get 8 lip balms for only $65. Or you can give it as a gift for Christmas as it's already nicely packaged for the holiday. The lucky person gets to try out the different lip balms that Fresh has. But for me, I'll be keeping some and giving some to my little sister since this is my holy grail lip item.

Next up, the Tarte Thoughtful Treasures Best-Seller.
This item was only $19 and is only for a limited time for the holidays. This comes with a pure maracuja oil, Amazonian clay blush in Thankful, and a LipSurgence in Energy. I got because I wanted to try out all three products.

I've heard great reviews about the Benefit Gimme Brow and wanted to try it out since my current brow tint from Étude House was out. I may have to exchange the color as it's kinda dark compared to my current hair color. I think would've worked out if I still had my dark brown hair color.

The Lancôme Energie De Vie was part of the Beauty Insider points gift for 100 points. It's a pretty decent size for a free gift considering that I get 15ml of products. This will be helpful when it gets colder and my skin is feeling dryer and this cream is definitely thick enough to provide moisture. But one downside is that there's a Chinese medicinal scent to the product. We'll see if I'll be able to put up with the scent.

This is my first time purchasing anything from Guerlain. I've been wanting to try out their meteorites for awhile and finally got a chance to purchase one. This one is in 01, Teint Rose. I plan to use this as a blush/highlighter. I definitely love the packaging.

Another Guerlain product I got was the Crazy Terracotta. I figured that with the pink in the bronzer, it won't be too brown or dark. This will be my first bronzer ever since I usually use only blushes. I love the packaging and it comes with a cute velvet sleeve with a hot pink lining.

Last item is the Dolce & Gabbana Rose the One. The 2.5fl oz. is only available online. Since this is my holy grail scent, I figured getting the jumbo size would be worth it as I use this one so often. If you love rose scented perfumes, this is a really good one. It doesn't smell like the old lady rose scent at all and it isn't super strong scented, which is great for my sensitive nose. I've already gone through 3 bottles since I started using this in my Junior year in college.

Thanks for dropping by.

Product Review: Laneige Water Sleeping Pack

This sleeping pack has become part of my holy grail item. I've gone through two bottles of these so far and I'm working on my third one. Also, it's a top rated product by most Asian magazine and by Elle Beauty in 2011.

As mentioned, the sleeping pack is a mask which you leave on overnight and wash off in the morning. It'll keep your skin hydrated throughout the night. As for the brightening properties mentioned on the packaging, I have yet to see occur.  But after using this, my face isn't puffy when I wake up in the morning and when I wash off the mask, my skin feels soft and smooth.  It's perfect for all skin type because it's a water based product and it's a gel consistency. The product does have a scent to it, but it's a refreshing one.

I usually use this in alternation of every other day with my sheet masks.

How to use:
As part of my night routine, I first cleanse my face and after drying it, I use my whitening serums and night creams. Afterwards, I'll apply the sleeping mask gel with my fingers and gently spread the gel all over my face.

The product will immediately start to absorb into my skin and the mask will be majorly dried within 10 minutes. There will be a slight moist feeling when you touch your face. Then I'm off to a good night's sleep.

You can find this product in any cosmetics stores that carries Laneige. I got mine from Amore, a Korean cosmetics store.
